COMMEMORATING KUSHNIRENKO ANDRIY – 2019

On May 15-19, 2019, the Anniversary Xth International vocal and choral contest-festival “Let a Song Gather Friends” will be held in Chernivtsi. The festival is dedicated to the memory of Kushnirenko Andriy – Professor, People’s Artist of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Arts of Ukraine, T. Shevchenko National Prize and S. Vorobkevych Literary and Art Prize laureate, Honored Citizen of Chernivtsi.

Kushnirenko Andriy is an outstanding Ukrainian composer and choral conductor, ethnographic scientist, talented teacher, correspondent member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine, member of the National Union of Composers of Ukraine, cultural and public figure.

In 1992 he founded and headed the Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University Department of music. For many years, he has been conducting the Honored Academic Bukovyna Ensemble of Song and Dance of Ukraine. His composer’s creativity has been recognized and highly praised. According to the rating of 1997 Kushnirenko Andriy was one of the best six choir conductors of Ukraine, his name is on the “Stars’ Alley” of the city of Chernivtsi. Noting the tireless work in the field of musical-choral culture of Ukraine and taking into account his role in the development of musical art and education of Bukovyna, the organizing committee of the contest-festival decided to dedicate the Anniversary Xth International vocal and choral contest-festival “Let a Song Gather Friends” to the memory of Kushnirenko Andriy.
